The crew of this ship has never done a cycling cru The crew of this ship has never done a cycling cruise like this. The boat isn’t really equipped to carry 200 bikes, many of them being tandems. Every morning in port it is literally all hands on deck to get the bikes off for us. We’re not allowed to help. They move them down circular staircases, down the gangplanks, lower them with cranes/ropes, etc. Quite the process! They should design the ships to carry bikes—it’s a great way to do a cruise!

Thinking of my own dad today on Father’s Day. D Thinking of my own dad today on Father’s Day. Dad’s life passion was the History of Western Civilization and European History. I’m sure it was his idea to cart 4 kids to Europe in 1966 for 3 whole months! They took us all out of school — they were both teachers, so they must have taken a sabbatical themselves. We rented our home while we were gone. Nobody I knew had even been on an airplane back then, so our 3 month adventure in a Volvo station wagon must have been quite an undertaking. Our family joined Dad on one of his summer tours that he led when I was 13 years old. 6 weeks in Europe! I love that I still have his “Europe on $5 a Day Book”! We were not a wealthy family—I remember him using that book daily! Thanks, Dad, for giving me the gift of travel and adventure.

Finally I got to go to summer camp thanks to Kelsey and Kenny having their weekend wedding at Camp Campbell in the redwoods. A whole weekend of camp activities, fun with friends, sleeping in dorm bunks, and a most awesome wedding ceremony and reception. Congratulations Kelsey and Kenny! #KelseyGotAWimmer

Our guides had to get out of the van with a machete to clear a road to get us to a trail. Later had a flat tire on the van. Miles of smiles with this group! 💜Oaxaca💜
